My Sense Of Humour

My sense of humour is a zany kind. This really comes, I suppose, from my father’s side. He likes the Goons with stars such like Neddie Seagoon played by Harry Secombe, the famous Eccles played by the equally famous Spike Milligan and last, but not least, Bluebottle played by Peter Sellers.

These are to my liking because of the almost impossible situations every one gets themselves in. The title of the Goons’ plays sometimes give you an idea of the plot and other times you get no idea. Here are a few of the titles: ‘The Dreaded Batter Pudding Hurler’, ‘The Phantom Head Shaver’, ‘The House Of Teeth’, ‘Foiled By President Fred’, ‘The Canal’, and ‘The Affair of the Lone Banana’. With titles like these I feel I want to hear them. Listening is best because you can imagine your own situation in which every one is in.

Monty Python are another favourite of mine with off-shoots like ‘Fawlty Towers’ about a crazy hotel where everything seems to go wrong, with John Cleese heading the cast, and ‘Rutland Weekend Television’ (RWT) which is a completely different station to B.B.C. and I.T.V. On this station anything could happen.

Back to Monty Python and it is like the Goons which is not surprising because Monty Python grew out of the Goons. Their humour is not heard and imagined, but can be heard and seen. It is so crazy that everything can happen and even the most serious situation can be made funny.

The Goodies are like Monty Python in their craziness except they are aimed at younger people. I like the Goodies because they keep to a story unlike Monty Python, but to me that does not matter.

I have been writing about my favourite comedy shows and not my sense of humour, so here goes!

I like to make people laugh even if some of my jokes fall flat on some people I will try them on someone else. I am not all that funny in school, but out of school and at home, I will do almost anything to make people laugh. I can get my sister in hysterics, without even saying a word, just like Max Wall did to me when he did his hand routine sitting down at the piano, I was doubled up with laughter on the settee with that.

I like having a real good, hearty laugh to make me feel good. Once my funny buds have been touched I will laugh at most anything and I find it hard not to laugh at some things like Monty Python, the Goons and the Goodies.

School exercise.
Don’t forget, it was written by a schoolboy.
It is published here for purely selfish vanity reasons.
